About the Role
oneD is looking for a UX/UI Designer Contract to support the design and improvement of our OTT streaming experience across Smart TV, Mobile App, Web, and Connected Devices.
This is a 4–6 month contract role for a senior designer who can work independently, understand streaming user behavior, translate product and business objectives into practical design solutions, and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Design teams.
The ideal candidate should be strong in UX thinking, UI craft, product specification, data-informed design, Figma, AI-assisted design workflow, and OTT platform experience.
This role requires working 5 days at the office to ensure close collaboration with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
UX/UI Design for OTT Platform
- Design user experiences for OTT streaming platforms across Smart TV, Mobile App, Web, and connected devices.
- Work on key product areas such as Home, Content Detail Page, Search, Player, Continue Watching, Subscription, Account, Live TV, and other core streaming journeys.
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, UI screens, and design handoff documentation.
- Translate product requirements and business objectives into clear UX solutions and polished UI.
- Ensure the experience supports content discovery, engagement, retention, and subscription conversion.
- Adapt design patterns based on platform-specific behavior, such as TV remote navigation and mobile app interaction.
Product Specification & Design Documentation
- Support the creation of product specifications, UX notes, interaction rules, and design documentation.
- Define key user flows, edge cases, empty states, error states, loading states, and interaction behavior.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to ensure design solutions are feasible and clearly documented.
- Prepare clear design rationale and presentation materials for internal reviews when needed.
Data-informed Design
- Work with Product and Data teams to define data requirements for design validation.
- Translate product and UX questions into measurable tracking needs.
- Support the definition of success metrics for key journeys and features.
- Use available data to identify friction points and inform design improvements.
- Support event tracking requirements for key OTT journeys such as Home, Search, Content Detail, Player, Subscription, Account, Continue Watching, and Live TV.
AI-assisted Design Workflow
- Use AI tools such as Claude AI, ChatGPT, Figma AI, or Figma Make to support design workflow, UX writing, documentation, research synthesis, ideation, and product specification.
- Explore AI-connected workflows, including MCP-related workflows, to improve product context, documentation, design handoff, and team collaboration.
- Apply AI responsibly to improve design speed, quality, and decision-making.
Required Skills
Design & Product Skills
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI Design, Product Design, or related fields.
- Strong experience designing digital products, preferably in OTT, streaming, media, entertainment, subscription, video, e-commerce, or content platforms.
- Strong UX thinking with the ability to translate requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed UI.
- Strong visual design sense with attention to typography, spacing, layout, hierarchy, components, and interaction states.
- Experience creating or working with design systems, components, variants, and responsive layouts.
- Strong product thinking and understanding of user behavior, usability, business impact, and technical constraints.
- Ability to write or support product specs, UX notes, interaction rules, and design handoff documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain design decisions clearly.
- Able to work on-site at the office 5 days per week.
Tools & AI Workflow
- Strong Figma skills for UI design, prototyping, design systems, and developer handoff.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude AI, Figma AI, or Figma Make to support design, research, UX writing, documentation, and product specs.
- Familiarity with MCP or AI-connected workflows
- Comfortable using Jira, Confluence
Data Analytics Understanding
- Ability to design based on business objectives, user behavior, and available product data.
- Understands how to define design hypotheses, success metrics, and data requirements.
- Able to collaborate with Product and Data teams to identify tracking needs for features and user journeys.
- Able to interpret basic product analytics and translate insights into UX/UI improvements.
- Familiar with product analytics concepts such as CTR, conversion rate, drop-off rate, retention, time to first play, search success rate, funnel analysis, cohort analysis, event tracking, and A/B testing.

Platform Specialization
Candidates should have strong experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Smart TV Design: Experience designing for Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, or other connected TV platforms, with strong understanding of 10-foot UI, focus states, remote navigation, safe area, readability, and player controls.
- Mobile App Design: Experience designing for iOS and Android apps, with strong understanding of mobile UX patterns, app navigation, onboarding, subscription flow, content discovery, and video player experience.
- Cross-platform OTT Design: Ability to design consistent but platform-appropriate experiences across TV, mobile app, and web, while adapting design systems and interaction patterns for different devices and user contexts.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on OTT, streaming, video, media, entertainment, or subscription-based products.
- Experience designing for Smart TV platforms and remote-control navigation.
- Experience working with cross-platform design systems across TV, mobile app, and web.
- Basic understanding of product analytics, event tracking, funnel analysis, A/B testing, or usability testing.
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as GA4, Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Datadog, UXCam, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience using Claude AI,, Figma AI, Figma Make, MCP, or AI agents in product/design workflows.
- Understanding of front-end or platform constraints for mobile app, web, or TV development.
- Ability to create clear design rationale, product documentation, or executive-level design presentations.
- Strong interest in entertainment, content discovery, video streaming, and digital media products.
